God’s got
a funny sense of humor with me – if I haven’t gotten the message, he continues
to prod me by putting ‘happenstances’ in my life along the way… A few nights
ago, my husband and I watched “Sand and Sorrow” on HBO (http://www.sandandsorrow.org/)
and it another one of those prods…
What was
the Cold War and Russia of my era will be my daughter's era with China… And if
we’re not careful with this people, my prediction will come true…
Let me say
right up front, I don’t believe it is the Chinese people themselves… From all
the programs I’ve watched and the things I’ve read, there’s now two to three
generations of Chinese people who have lived under the requiem – and have no
other way to even think – any other way of thinking is so totally foreign, that
if you took a switch and flipped on democracy overnight in China, it would be
total chaos…
The
massive years of living, thinking and breathing Communism for each of these
generations is so ingrained now, it seems like the right thing to do and be… So
I don’t fault the Chinese people themselves for I get the sense they simply
don’t know there is any other way to be BUT communist…
But those
in charge in China are exposed to the outside world and different ways of
thinking and living – those are the ones I find to blame for the way things are
going on around this planet of ours…

You can
easily push away this idea until you start to think about how integrated the
Chinese economy is with ours… I’m STILL angry so many pets had to die because of
the Chinese production of food products that were recalled… I’m still angry
about the massive slaughtering of dogs because they won’t vaccinate against
rabies there…
And when I
think about the dog and cat fur trade and market in China, it still boils my
brisket… The fact the Chinese Olympic officials moved the equine competitions
away from Beijing because of the fear animal lovers would travel the two hours
to the fur trade market to see for themselves, tells me all I need to know about
this situation…
I do
everything I can to NOT buy Chinese products, but it’s virtually impossible to
do this… When given a choice, I buy anything BUT “Made in China” because I am so
opposed to the mindsets of Red China…

And I am
boycotting the Olympics – I don’t want it on the TV in my home, I don’t want to
hear about it, I don’t want to read about it… PERIOD.
And then
when you realize that a nation of Africans are in the midst of genocide caused
by an Arab government kept in place because China is the major buyer of their
oil, such as Darfur, I look at it all and say, “Why?”…
Why are we
Americans buying from China and supporting their economy, when that country is
manipulating another nation’s culture and economy like this?... Allowing another
Rwanda in my own lifetime?... Didn’t everyone say “never again” with Rwanda?...
What happened to our fortitude and commitment after the Holocaust and then there
was Rwanda?... How many mass genocides do we need going on before we realize
this is not humane, moral or the right thing to do in any form or fashion?
When does
“never again” actually mean that? |

Did anyone
read or hear about this piece from the 1/3/08 edition of the Washington
Times?... I’ll quote part of it here…
“With the
Beijing Olympics nearing, China is determined to ensure that unbroken harmony
will prevail. The Associated Press, as reported in The Washington Times, reveals
that "the Chinese government has created profiles on thousands of foreign
journalists coming to report on the Beijing Olympics and is gathering
information on thousands more to put into a database. The Politburo extends its
pervasive domestic censorship to the world.
This
policy statement from "a top official" is in context with China's intelligence
services also having been "gathering information on foreign activist groups,
aiming to head off protests and other political acts." Four days after the AP
report, The Washington Post Foreign Service added that a leading "Chinese
security official vowed ... to punish anyone who takes part in a political,
religious or ethnic demonstration or protest 'in any form' " during the games.”

So much
for free speech and the spirit of the original Olympics!
And it’s
estimated that the Chinese government will receive six BILLION dollars from the
United State’s participation in the Olympics alone… Six billion dollars… All of
the major funding for the massive improvements (which will stay there after the
Olympics), which were paid for by U.S. corporations…
I’m not
talking about the thousands of public restrooms that had to be built in Beijing
(because they don’t culturally have them but just urinate in the streets)… I’m
talking about massive construction and infrastructure… |
|
|
And
exactly WHY are we doing all of this for Red China?... Can someone explain this
to me?... Can someone explain to me why the Chinese government has chosen to not
put safety measures in their mines, but prefer to simply pay $10,000 for each
miner killed in a cave-in?... Or that they dump the byproducts of the tanning
industry into the oceans without treating it?... Or that the world waits with
horrible anticipation the bird flu pandemic will become a reality because of the
Chinese?...
I’m a
simple person, so I don’t understand these things… So someone needs to explain
to me why I’m wrong in boycotting the Olympics being held in Beijing, China for
I fail to see why this country is allowed to do the things they do and I have to
support them in any form or fashion… |
|
|
Yes, I’m
afraid that Red China will be my daughter’s era of yet more atrocities and
inhumanity toward one’s fellow man… “Never again” today is a meaningless phrase
which so many died for…
As Always,
The Lady

I said
that for China the first imperative was ‘survival’, but I must immediately add
that by ‘survival’ I do not merely mean to eke a living by disgraceful means...
